Fairfield
Harbour is a resort community with timeshare accommodations
plus several large residential developments. The resort
has two 18-hole championship courses, which are about
1.5 miles apart. One is the Shoreline, at the Pelican
Drive address, with bermudagrass greens. The other,
Harbour Pointe on Berkentine Drive, has bentgrass greens
and is similar in layout to the golf courses of Scotland.
Both courses are open to the public seven days a week.
Fees for nonmembers are $29 for 18 holes and $12.50
for carts. Walkers are allowed anytime at the Shoreline
course; at Harbour Pointe golfers may walk after 1 PM.
The club has a pro shop, driving range and restaurant.
Golf lessons are available from Fairfield's PGA pro,
Dwayne Simpson. To get there, cross the new Neuse River
Bridge on U.S. Highway 17. Turn right on N.C. Highway
55, continue about a half-mile to the traffic light
and turn right onto Broad Creek Road. Signs will direct
you from there.
